- Assist the Stewarding Manager in supervising daily operations of the Stewarding Department to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all kitchens, storage rooms, waste areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Support in training, coaching, and guiding stewarding staff to maintain established hygiene, safety, and operational standards.
- Monitor the proper use and maintenance of stewarding equipment and cleaning tools, reporting any issues and coordinating timely repairs.
- Help implement and maintain cleaning schedules, deep-cleaning plans, and sanitation programs in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections of kitchen and service areas to ensure hygiene protocols and sanitation standards are being followed.
- Assist in managing inventory levels for cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding equipment, helping ensure cost control and stock availability.
- Facilitate clear communication between stewarding, culinary, and food & beverage teams to support smooth and timely service.
- Participate in departmental meetings and relay important updates to stewarding team members.
- Provide support in performance evaluations, ongoing staff development, and team motivation to uphold service excellence.
- Act as a liaison for hygiene and stewarding-related matters in the absence of the Executive Chief Steward.
- Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling processes are followed according to environmental and health guidelines.
- Support the pre-opening setup and training processes for new stewarding operations as needed.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in stewarding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort.
- Solid understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices aligned with local and international health regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support cross-departmental collaboration.
- Proven ability to lead and support diverse teams in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
- Fluency in Portuguese; additional language skills are a plus.
