- Lead the monthly financial close for all entities, ensuring deadlines are consistently achieved and all reporting obligations are fulfilled.
- Analyse financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities such as maintaining the general ledger, handling receivables and payables, tracking fixed assets, monitoring inventories, and managing provisions.
- Establish and uphold effective internal control frameworks to protect company resources and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting procedures and systems, prioritizing digital solutions to drive efficiency improvements.
- Regularly assess complex journal entries including provisions, accruals, and impairments to verify their correctness and relevance.
- Work closely with various departments to support cross-functional processes and promote comprehensive, end-to-end solutions.
- Oversee the preparation and coordination of external audit activities.
- Analyze inventory valuation methods, investigate discrepancies, and implement standardized costing techniques.
- Contribute to projects involving system implementations and continuous process improvements.
- Supervise the Portuguese Accounting team and handle related human resources responsibilities.
- Academic background in Economics, Business Administration, or Accounting.
- Demonstrated experience in comparable accounting or finance positions, with team management responsibilities.
- Certified Accountant.
- Professional background in a Big Four consultancy is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams effectively.
- Hands-on experience improving and automating key finance workflows.
- Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
- Solid command of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Self-driven with a strong focus on achieving outcomes independently.
- Well-developed analytical abilities and skill in interpreting financial results.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships
