Only the Portuguese version has official value.By order issued by the Director General of the Telecommunications Institute on January 30, 2023, it was approved to open an international call to select one candidate researcher in the scientific scope of the project REVOLUTION - 2022.08005.PTDC, under the scope of an indefinite term working contract, overseen by the Portuguese legal Work Code.The work objectives envisioned for this position are: Leadership in the task aiming to define scenarios and architecture In this task the scenario for the radar network will be defined including architecture, channel models, and definition of the main KPIs to evaluate the performance. One important component in the architecture will be the data repository and learning mechanisms for ML (Machine Learning) and cognition, to enable a trade-off between the conventional “model-based” design paradigm and the data-based ones involving learning and environment adaptively. Leadership in task involving waveform design and cooperative algorithms. These will include 1) joint waveforms for radar and communications 2) distributed sensing compression at the nodes; 3) joint processing of the compressed data at a fusion center. The work will also include interaction with the other tasks, namely machine learning, synchronization and implementation-oriented activities. As part of these activities, it is expected that the researcher co-supervises MSc and PhD students as well as participate in the writing of novel research proposals.Applicable Legislation:

RequirementsResearch Field Engineering » Electrical engineering Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsThe applicants should have a PhD degree in electrical engineering with focus on signal design and processing for wireless communications and / or radar and have at least 5 years of post-doc experience in any of these fields, with publications in the field in the most relevant journals (IEEE Trans. On IT, Signal Proc., Commun., Wireless Com., etc.). The applicants should also be proficient in using the MATLAB language. This component of the evaluation is expressed in a scale of 0 to 20, and candidates with less than 15 are automatically considered excluded from the call. (...) Candidates with a classification of 14 or higher in the previous component shall make a public live presentation (...) Candidates with less than 14 in this component are automatically considered excluded from the call.The assessment will be based on the following criteria, where the total number of points will be 20. i) (2 points) Academic performance at the PhD level, where the main factor in the evaluation are 1. Suitability of the PhD as providing adequate background for the project 2. Importance of the publications, where the criteria will be the relevance of the journals, originality of the ideas, depth of the research as well as repetition avoidance; ii) (6 points) Post PhD performance and closeness to the objectives of the project. This will include: 1. Publications where the criteria will include the importance of journals, depth of research, broadness of the research. In the last item we aim to someone with some deep broadness in signal processing but not a superficial touching of everything 2.
