Our strong operations and commercialization expertise result in high volume availability of competitive, efficient products that truly drive change.BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Industrial Engineer Intern at our production plant in Viana, Portugal.Key Accountabilities:

Maintain and improve the 5S system, continuing an already initiated project, with the goal of keeping the system audited and continuously improved;
Develop and publish missing technical procedures on the AGIR platform, particularly those related to scrap management, ATT/TT (cycle/work time), and capacity reviews;
Create and/or update SOWs (Statements of Work) for: machines (specifying handling, working heights, operation coding, and operator interface), part presentation, and part handling (gripper);
Support the implementation of the internal suggestion system, promoting active employee participation;
Support and collaborate with the Industrial Engineering team in all tasks related to the role;
Comply with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), quality, and productivity standards in all assigned activities;
Adhere to the organization’s internal rules and regulations, including the Code of Ethics, conduct guidelines, and working hours;
Promote and maintain workplace safety, cleanliness, and organization at all times;
Perform additional tasks beyond the primary scope of the internship when required due to operational needs or training opportunities, under supervisor guidance.

Education & Experience

Technical degree, Bachelor's or Master's in Industrial Engineering and Management, Mechanical Engineering, or other fields with a strong focus on industrial processes and manufacturing;
Basic knowledge of Lean methodologies (5S, Kaizen, etc.);
Understanding of industrial organization, line balancing, time and motion studies;
Ability to interpret technical and operational processes;
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint;
Knowledge of AutoCAD or other technical drawing software, as well as ERP or document management systems (e.g., AGIR), is a plus;
Strong organizational skills, responsibility, and attention to detail;
Analytical thinking and critical mindset;
Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn;
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team;
Ability to work independently and take initiative;
Portuguese: Fluent (spoken and written);
English: Good level (ability to read and understand technical documentation).
