Offer DescriptionHERCULES LABORATORY - CULTURAL HERITAGE, STUDIES AND SAFEGUARDINGSCHOLARSHIP FOR BACHELOR'S DEGREEE HOLDERS - 1 vacancy25 March 2024A call for tenders is open for one Bachelor 's Degree Scholarship within the scope of the project "Holy Bodies | An Atlas of the corpi santi in Portugal" (2022.01486.PTDC), financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P./MCTES through national funds, under the following conditionsScientific area: Architecture, Design.Admission requirements: Graduation in Architectural Culture or Design without the possibility of replacing the qualification with professional training or experience. Proven skills in 3D modelling, explicitly using Maya, Sketchup, Unreal Engine, Blender or Rhino software and expertise in developing virtual spaces. Proficiency in Portuguese and English.As set forth in FCT Research Scholarship Regulation No. 950/2019 of 16 December 2019, articles 3 and 6, candidates for "BI" (Research Grants) must comply as a rule condition for the award of the scholarship, the effective inclusion in study cycles leading to the attribution of academic degrees or in courses not leading to an academic degree. Courses that do not confer an academic degree correspond to the courses provided for in subparagraph e) of paragraph 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law No. 74/2006 of 24 March and must be developed in a higher education institution in association with at least one R&D unit, including a course plan in one or several research areas of the unit.Work plan: * Participation in in-situ campaigns for 3D digitisation of relics (corpi santi) and associated heritage assets and collection of 360º photographs of the spaces where they are located;
  • Research and characterisation of web-based platforms for creating and presenting virtual exhibitions;
  • Definition of a museographic narrative and creation of a web-based virtual reality space, respective exhibition equipment, lighting design and sound environments for displaying the relics (corpi santi) and complementary information.
The work must be completed within six months.Applicable legislation and regulations: The granting of the Research Scholarship will be carried out upon the signing of a contract between the University of Évora and the scholarship holder, according to the version in Annex I, pursuant to the Research Scholarship Statute (Law No. 40/2004 of August 18 and Decree-Law No. 123/2019 of August 28) and in accordance with the legislation and Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, IP in force, regulation nº950/2019 of December 16, 2019: and other applicable rules.Place of work: The scholarship holder will work under the scientific supervision of Professor Jorge de Sá and Dr. Leonel Alegre and will be hosted by the HERCULES Laboratory at the University of Évora. The workplace will be the _ARTERIA_LAB at the Colégio dos Leões - University of Évora.Duration of the scholarship: The scholarship will last 6 months and is scheduled to start on October of 2024.Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €990.98, according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal ( ), payments being made monthly, by check or bank transfer.Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following:The Curricular Assessment (CA) aims to analyse the candidates' qualifications, namely: proven experience in 3D modelling using Maya, Sketchup, Unreal Engine, Blender or Rhino software (A); proven experience in designing and developing virtual spaces (B); skills in interactive design (C). Experience in these areas must be proven by submitting a portfolio. The curricular assessment also includes motivation to participate in the project by submitting a letter of motivation (D).The weighting for the CA is 100 per cent. It will be expressed on a scale of 0 to 20, with the classification obtained by the arithmetic mean of the classifications of the elements to be assessed, according to the following formula:A. Proven experience in 3D modelling using Maya, Sketchup, Unreal Engine, Blender or Rhino software: 40%;B. Proven experience in designing and developing virtual spaces: 30%.C. Skills in interactive design: 20%D. Motivation letter: 10%AC = A*0,4 + B*0,3 + C*0,2 + D*0,1If necessary, the selection board reserves the right to call up to three candidates for an interview (E). Candidates who score less than 9.5 will be excluded from the procedure.The Interview (E) will be graded on a scale of 0 to 20 and will last no more than 20 minutes.The Final Classification (CF) of the candidates called for interview is expressed on a scale of 0 to 20 as a result of the following arithmetic average:CF = 70% AC + 30% EIf candidates fail to turn up, they have withdrawn from the competition.
